E46 sedan/wagon has been a top contender. I'd love a N54 powered anything, but the $10k kills that idea. I'd spend more, but can't spending $15k-$20k on something I'm gonna throw mileage at.

How are the trans in E46's? I'd prefer a manual, but my wife would rather have a auto.

Mk4 ignition is on the fritz, might pull the trigger sooner then later.

Early e46s with autos had issues losing reverse. The reverse drum would actually crack, no warning. If you're looking at facelift cars (02+), the slush box's are just fine. Overall, I wouldn't worry about it.

There are quite a few 2006-2007 325i's on the market around the $8k-$10k range with alittle over 100k miles on them. 2006 appears to be the first year for that gen, I'd love some input from people that know anything about them..

I'd rather spend more and get a nice low mileage car. Springs and rollers can come later.

That E91 is calling my name - trying to arrange to see it Wednesday. If anyone here has any experience with that gen or engine, some insight would be greatly appreciated.

Finding major service intervals for newer cars is harder then I thought... Anyone have a good link or info?

Keep in mind that the service intervals have been extended on newer cars, in my opinion some of the reasoning is the free maintenance for x years deal, they don't care how much beyond warranty it lasts.

This is only my opinion and I realize that modern lubricants are much better than what was available in the days of 3mo/3k miles oil changes.  FWIW I run Royal Purple HPS for 10k intervals and would continue to on any car I bought.

I was thinking more major items (water pump, timing chain, etc..). I'm assuming they consider the chains a "lifetime" item.

Might be backing off the E91 wagon... Found a 08 328i in MKE from a dealer with under 90k. Auto trans... But honestly doesn't bother me for a daily.
