yep that makes a lot of sense lol. where are you dyno'ing on Friday? Are you going to be in MKE still on your way to NFZ? If you are dyno'ing nearby maybe I can stop out. I will be downtown.

I contacted Late Model Throttle and they said they'd do it, just waiting to hear back about availability. I will be staying in Milwaukee Wednesday and Thursday night. Would probably dyno on Friday our way to NFZ. If you'd like to stop by, I can give you the time if LMT has an open slot.

sweet if they can get you in let me know what time. I have a lunch appointment but otherwise should be open to make a stop in. I won't be ready to dyno yet I don't think, probably next week. Adjustments still being made to map 6. It may get sorted this week still but probably not going to know in time to be able to get on the dyno by friday. ;/

Just got a message back form LMT. They said they're booked this week 😦

I'm pestering them to open a 30-45 minute spot. I only want to go there because I'll be in town that day and have the whole day off. We'll see if they can accommodate.

I look forward to seeing your car and comparing the two!

Message Jesse Riggle on Facebook. He may be able to help you out. He's the tuner there and is often there after hours.

Just sent him a message. We'll see what he says. Thanks for the heads up 😄

if that doesn't work you could always see if King Motorsports has space. That's usually where I go. They have an inground DynoJet.

Wasn't able to make it to any other dynos, but I'll just leave this here. The car was spinning tire the whole time, but still made decent numbers. It made 500+ wtq on the first run but it spun so bad that they shut it down. After that, they eased into it and didn't get the numbers I was hoping for. Two of my friends were at the dyno and with me at the 1/2 mile NFZ event this weekend. We're all confident it's a 500+ car. NFZ videos coming up soon... it was a blast!

I know your M5 was there for a long time. What're your thoughts on Beyond Redline?

I wasn't overly thrilled by their dyno techs. The guy didn't know how to turn off traction control and they were going to dyno it in the wrong gear. I can see in the logs that they didn't flat foot it and eased into things. Overall, disappointed. I'd like to get different results from LMT or King, but it's a drive.

I don't see a need to justify the numbers. Just get on a different (see: properly calibrated) dyno that's at a legit shop, get your sheet showing correct power and be happy. There's nothing new here - you have an FBO N54 with MHD tuning and upgraded inlets on E85. There are a gazillion stat sheets at this point to show roughly how much power your car will realistically be putting down. I know it's nice to see numbers on a dyno yourself but I honestly wouldn't care who thinks my car is 500+ horsepower or not. It's fast, I know it's fast, and it feels fast when I'm driving it.

I want that 500+ dyno sheet so I can show it to a group of guys that thought my car would never make good power. I also wouldn't mind rubbing it in the face of a few of my Mustang friends.

I'm good friends with the owner (he was best man in my wedding actually).  Like anywhere else, it's tough to get good help that do their best all the time.  I've never met or heard of a better tuner than the owner, he is flown around the country to tune set-ups that no one else could tune.

Hearing both sides of the horror stories (there are some) never leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth, only that it's sad that people who like to complain are always the loudest.

That's how it always goes though... in any industry. As long as the company tries to make it right in the end, that's what matters.

I'd imagine it sucks for them because tuning is a finicky situation. If a car has a crappy setup and their work or tune ends up being the last straw to break the camels back, they're in trouble even though they might not be to blame. That's definitely a business I would never feel comfortable starting. Not being able to have every clients car run perfectly, ugh. I feel bad enough working on other people's cars sometimes because I don't want to be liable for something breaking.

Because the owner is so good at tuning, the tuning itself is usually never the problem, it's always the car.  He said the ones that show up on a trailer the the absolute worst, the car NEVER needs 'just a tune' like the car owner claims, then BR is the bad guy because they have to do more work on the car.

You had a simple Dyno run, so if you weren't happy with the guys who ran your car, that's on them, not you.  I know if the tires spin, the run is aborted as it's not accurate for a multitude of reasons.

The worst is when a car blows on the dyno.  It's nearly impossible to tune a car so bad it will blow on the dyno, it's always been a problem in the hardware, but it never fails when the car blows it's guts out it's always BRs fault as far as the car owner is concerned.

It is a crappy business, think about all the douche bags we see at car shows/events, those are the same guys on tight budgets and scream and yell at the shops, and nothing is ever their fault.

And god forbid they put a conservative tune on the car to be safe and the customer doesn't get the glory numbers that somebody else has!  Then the tuner is an idiot and does't know what they're doing.
