Favorite tach I've ever taken to redline. S65's love it too :D I now ponder why I left Concours....

Anyways I've taken the eta to redline just for giggles and because its way too easy at 4700rpm  Once I get an M30 running I'm sure it will be occurring often :D

I do occasionally, but with my motor there's no reason to visit redline 😕

im afraid I may have gone a tidbit too small on my turbine and will have the same issue. Only a little while longer to find that out.

Aside from whether you enjoy the

noise, the merits of running to redline depend on your torque curve/peak. The sweet spot on my unchipped m20 drops off before redline. No reason for me to hit redline on purpose.

In my 533i I hit bliss once in a great while (2 or 3 times a month if I drive it everyday).  I generally baby it unless I go under a tunnel :).  My 88 Super eta on the other hand I hit it 2 or 3 times every 6 months. It really wakes up but I want it to last and it's not fast so I ask myself why?

Every once in awhile I wind it up to redline, which is disappointing in my case as the turbos run out of breath around 5k - 5500...

When I'm trying to conserve fuel... never

When I'm feelin rich, I bury that sucker, watch the smoke roll n hang on until she cuts out. I have a good reason, turbo will keep spooling and spooling. I like 45 psi :)

with an auto e34, redline comes only when it decides not to interupt with a shift. would be a fun car with a 5 speed.

i dont agree with the idea that driving it hard every now and then somehow helps the car, but I definately agree that bmws are designed to be drivin at high rpms and doing so doesnt hurt them.
