Anyone done seat repair welding? I need a welder to help to weld a tab back on to my e30 sport seat back frame.

Turns out I have the classic drivers side broken left side tab issue.

what are the symptoms? I may have this problem on my seat as well

Seat back will rock back and forth with you in it when you hit the brakes. Plus, you can lift one side of the seat back and rock it back and forth (inboard and outboard). If you are lucky the screw that attaches the seat back to the L bracket is loose/missing. Unlucky the small L bracket has snapped off at the bend and needs to be rewelded. I am unlucky.

Found a welder.

mine does the same thing.

All good. Welded the tab top, bottom and a spot in the middle. Thought about running a full bead but would have fried the threads on the tab. I had removed the seat shock for clearance and the welded tab ended up being strong enough to use to anchor channel locks to recompress the shock. Got the seat back together and in the car, no more rocking.
