Odd both of these cars come up for sale at the same time...

Two very serious, period modified e21's built by guys who were, and maybe still are, big names in modded BMWs:

      someone said:

This 96 Volvo wagon is the perfect vehicle for any millennial. Are you offended and hiding in your moms basement? Of course you are! Well listen up snowflake because I have the perfect vehicle for you. The 96 Volvo 850 R could be the safest of all safe spaces left in America now that donny T is out there being mean and hurting feelings. Allow me to elaborate on the safety features. First, there's literally videos of these vehicles all over the internet driving right through brick walls. BAM! Just like that you are now impervious to sticks and stones, na,na,na,boo, boo. The second safety feature is the fact that this vehicle is turbocharged. A turbocharger is a small device that looks like a snail. Millennials also ironically resemble snails because they are usually found inside a shell and commonly underground. This turbo device will keep you safe by allowing you to outpower and evade the majority of bullies out there. "You can't bully what u can't catch." This element of speed is extremely important because American DNA no longer has a fight or flight response, it only knows flight. Based on these new scientific facts the turbocharger is absolutely imperative to the survival of your feelings.
The third safety feature of this vehicle is its primitive electronics. It doesn't have wifi so just click that phone off and cyber bullies can't get you! It's just you on the open road feeling safe and rocking a hilariously oversized vape pen. So when you're ready to step out of the nest come have a look at my seeedish boost wagon. Thanks for reading my post.

So, I text'd the guy. I hate when people just say "make and offer".....and then they get all offended when I offer $20. Sorry, gotta start somewhere.

Just in case anyone is wondering...after going back and forth with the guy to get a ballpark price he wants 3k for the car, 3.5k with spare drivetrain (engine, manual trans, tcase, shafts, and rear dif)

It's too bad the previous owner was texting and driving (a correct assumption) .  They probably sent someone "lol" and didnt even mean it.

That car is crazy clean otherwise

So is that where we're at?  $3k for a wrecked e30?  It doesn't look to me to even have $3k worth of parts to part out.  Am I being naive?

That's a little insane. There was a guy I met a while back right near me that ended up selling me a trans for my motor that had bought a 91 ix almost identical to that one to fix up. Front end smashed in from an accident but clean everywhere else, same color, automatic trans...and he payed 1200 bucks for it.

Yea, I didnt even respond to him. I had to close the txt to prevent me saying something mean( my new years resolution was to be nicer, it's been hard a road)

His response to my first text (which was just asking for a ballpark price) was: "No idea. I know theyre worth the most of all e30s cuz theyre the rarest".

Which, yea maybe, but a wrecked car is still a wrecked car. You may get lucky and be able to rebuild it, but its pretty much a parts car as it sits. A front end is very hard to get back together where everything doesnt look wonky after a front end collision like that. My e34 wasn't nearly that bad and I still had to ghetto space some bolts to keep my front end from looking like it has downs. There is not 3k in parts on there. The drivetrain is really the only thing worth more on the ix, the tcase in particular. I will say, the extras for $500 is probably worth it. I know the tcases are becoming harder and harder to find in working order.

That being said, post is gone. Tempted to ask him why. Unless somebody had a bag of cash they needed to unload

It will likely go for more than I have to spend. I really just want the manual swap goodies.

Doesnt take much for insurance companies to total 20+ year old cars. It does have a clean title though, so who knows what the circumstances are
