^interesting, is spec Miata not as heavily regulated or...?
-
I don't have the full story here but when they were setting up the SM series rules they had restrictions to balance out the 1.6 and 1.8l engines, and spec exhaust requirements, but there ended up being too many loopholes in the rule set that allowed folks to pour money into engine builds and once the door was opened it was too late to close it. At the front end of the field with drivers of equal skill level any little horsepower advantage you can get can be the difference in making it to the podium and where you stand on it. Club racers can spend stupid money for plastic trophies and contingencies. Not all but some. Just walk around a SCCA or NASA paddock and look at what some folks bring to the party.

How about this 318 w/a V8?
heard it was a pile and the dude who currently owns it a real piece of work. Think hes drift king and he works at a parts store.
-
That fucking car started out at $4500, then went to $3500, and is now up to $8k lol
I asked the dude, and hes like, "I did some maintenance and Mods like the wheels"
those are thrashed works that have been though like 5+ people. haha. I'm sure he didn't do anything crazy to it.
-
No doubt... Shit, over $20k stuck into it and he didn't even bother putting in a new driver's seat. Looks like a bengal tiger has been living in that car for the past 2 weeks.
