somebody buy this so that I don't feel like the only guy in our group with a functional, running red BMW:
-
The guy selling it is a bit hard to work with but other than that it would be a good swap car if you feel like cutting out the front of the strut tower. It is a non structural part so that is a plus. The guy had no clue it was anything special until I told him about it haha

'smoked in' never comes out. on my last e30, most of the time you couldn't tell someone had smoked in it but the minute you blast the ac or heat, for the first few seconds you smell the ashtray awfulness. the last two previous owners both said they were non-smokers (and they were credible) so that means it still smelled like that at least 6 years since the last time a smoker owned it.
-
^^ very true, I guess I couldn't confirm without running a/c but yeah it's hit or miss. My E36 was lightly smoked in and didn't smell after detailing but I sprayed cleaners in the vents too.
If I had $14k to drop right now I'd be running to get that M5! I've seen one Imola E39 M5 in person and it looks so mean.

Someone claiming to be the guy selling it responded to the thread on bimmerforums:
Hi! This is me!
Probably parted out because it was a wrecked piece of junk, then half resurrected by some ambitious moron who couldn't get it running.
Thanks, I am quite an ambitious moron!
It was running and driving and my daily. I just had a better car sort of fall into my lap, so it needed to go, it is being parted out now though since so many different people wanted different parts.
I think he added an extra 0 to the price
Totalled E36 M3 shell with 318i parts in it. Non running... Someone had a dream that never came true...Ah, you're so right! Haven't we all had dreams that have never come true, its a tragic thought. Luckily we have each others support through those hard time. Also luckily, my only dream regarding this car was to not see it crushed and learn more about e36s. I accomplished both!

kinda sucks cause i just want the m42 and trans out of it haha... just dont want to have to deal with the shit shell
That doesn't suck at all, you just should have emailed me as this wasn't where I was checking for interest in the car. Im actually in the middle of pulling the motor and trans right now, feel free to reach out and Id be happy to sell it to you. My girlfriend and I were just going to throw it into out e30 track car and do our best to blow it up while we finished piecing together our 302 swap.

$3600 E36 M3 manual 97k miles 1 owner black/black.
No pics, but seems like a decent deal.

Oh my I want that so bad. I just wish I could drive it on the road! For some crazy reason insurance at bare minimum for that car is more than e46 m3 for me.
It was 300+ a month full coverage on e36 m3 almost spit my coffee out.
