      #1: 1991 Volvo 940 GLE 16 valve

      22400510104280730208453n.jpg

Bone stock. Timing belt broke one wintry morning due to negligence.

      #2: 1990 Volvo 760 turbo

      IMG3640.jpg

My first experience with modification. I did a lot of work/modification on this car, but my enthusiasm outweighed my ability and the car was never as good as it should've been. I learned a lot from this car. Sold it to a guy from Alabama.

      #4: 1990 BMW 325i

      e30nightshots3copy.jpg

Bought this in an attempt to get away from Volvos due to my frustrations with the previous car. I loved every second of owning this car, and only sold it so that I could afford to pay for my last year of college without taking out a loan. It is now in great hands, owned by Ian (visian on this forum).

      #5: 1990 Volvo 240 DL

      IMG20110825182513.jpg

Purchased as a cheap beater to replace the e30. I did a couple little cheap mods to it and drove the heck out of it. Worth every penny. Traded it for the next car.

      #6: 1990 Volvo 740 turbo SE

      passengerside1.jpg

Traded for this because it was a deal I couldn't pass up. The SE is rather rare and sought after in the Volvo world. Did a lot of maintenance on it and then traded it yet again for my current 240.

      #7: 1989 Mercedes 300e

      IMG20110825171315.jpg

My brother gave me this car as a present. I really liked it, but it was plagued by k-jet issues, so I got rid of it cheap. I wish I wouldn't have had to let it go.

      #8: 1984 Volvo 240 turbo

      IMG20121008142735.jpg

Was my brother's car, then a joint project we worked on, then my own project. Swapped a late model turbo motor into it and in general put way too much time and money into it. Sold it to a friend for cheap.

      #9: 1987 Volvo 240 DL

      85675544016838122942088037209o.jpg

This is my project car. A lot of time and a lot of money are in it. Nothing is stock anymore.

      #10: 1998 Volvo S70 T5 SE

      8592384480996355058843601189o.jpg

Picked this up to be my comfy daily driver so the aforementioned 245 could undergo more serious modification. Last week a drunk motorcyclist crashed into me, totally it. Hoping to find a replacement soon.

Wow, I guess I really am a Volvo guy. Still plenty of love for BMW's though.  ;)

I love threads like this - some awesome vehiculars.  Mine is more of the two wheeled kind, though.

First vehicle I ever owned in my name.  Loved it so much and learned everything I know from it.  Used to take out the engine and rebuild it in my apartment bedroom in college in 4 hours.  So easy to work on and learn from.

          2005167556008672281nzpsd5dd6b03.jpg

Second bike ever owned - big step up from the 250.  1994 CBR900RR with a stupid sprocket setup.

          1000086.jpg

Just sold her in Decemeber, had it since 2009.

VFR750 circa 1992; best sounding bike I ever owned.

          Another bike:

          IMG0426.jpg

Got seriously fucked over from a Chicago twat with this car, didn't have it for long but loved it when it ran.  Either way, everyone has a subbie now so it never felt that special...

          IMG0726.jpg

Another project bike - had no fairings from previous damage and "rebuilt" it.  Sold it to my good friend.

Thanks! Yeah, that car was easy to spot out. but even as modified as it was, it's no where near as fun as my M... Began to wonder why I was messing with Audi's for so damn long.

Hah, I remember essentially following that E36 on Craigslist until it was an empty chassis. Sucks what happened to you on the deal though. And it might be a longshot, but do you by chance have the FMU catback on your M5?

This is a pretty cool thread! A lot of good and mixed progressions (i.e. lots of different makes).

                          Here is mine:

1994 Chrysler Concorde (first car and Dad's hand me down, was a fuckin boat)

1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS (riced out... sadly)

                          2000 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer

2006 Scion TC (Bought because current GF wouldn't "let" me get a BMW)

2003 BMW 325xi (Broke up with her ^^)

                          2010 Audi A4

2007 BMW 328i (wife took it)

                          2010 BMW 335xi (current)

My first car was a 1975 Ford Thunderbird similar to the one in the pic, only the body wasn't in nearly as nice of shape. The silver paint was faded on the hood, and after getting hit by another car while in college, the left rear quarter ended up smashed in. Sold it to a local farmer for $500 who used it to run between his farms.

My second car was a dark green 1978 Chrysler Newport that I picked up for $2000 in 1984 with 60K miles on it. Drove it to college for two years until the 400 V8 blew a head gasket at 90K miles. Car was traded at that point in 1986. Don't have any pics of my actual car, but found a similar one online.

My third car was a light blue 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass Salon sedan with a 260 V8 that had all of about 90hp. It was a decent car, but, had no power at all. Ironically, it's the first car I ever got a speeding ticket in. I was going down a step hill prepping for a steep ascent on the other end. I also got stuck in the snow a number of times with it, and thus began a string of "winter beater" cars that served as second cars. The car shown IS NOT my actual car, but another I found online that is very similar in color.

My first "winter beater" was a 75 Chrysler Cordoba (pic found online and very similar to mine). Purchased for $500, I drove it for about six weeks before it started overheating constantly. Found out it had lost a freeze plug. Not knowing much about cars at the time, I assumed it needed an engine rebuild and traded it for another beater.

My next DD car was a silver 1984 Chevy Monte Carlo LS with a 305 V8 and red interior that I traded the 80 Olds for in early 1988. After a year, the paint began to check, so I had it repainted 1989 Corvette Charcoal black in FEB '89. Idiot that I was, I traded it about three months after the repaint for a FWD car.

At about the same time, I traded the Cordoba for my second "winter beater," a blue 75 Oldsmobile Delta 88 coupe with a 455 V8. Drove that car for about three months. Between the sagging right front spring, rusted floorboards, and an engine that used more oil than gasoline, I junked it and bought my third and last winter beater. (pic shown similar to my actual car)

My third "winter beater", and seventh car was a white 1977 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham sedan. I bought the car in late 1989 for $1200 from Bergstrom used cars with 77K miles on the 440. The car was a one owner car and well maintained. I drove it for one winter, and started kicking myself in the ass for driving such a nice car in WI winters. I ended up keeping the car for 10 years and another 30K miles. Pic is of my car.

My eighth car and 5th DD was a black 1986 Oldsmobile Delta 88 coupe. I had driven my first FWD car in a performance driving course for work, and decided that I absolutely had to have a FWD car. Bought the car (pic is similar to mine although 4 door) in spring 1989 after trading the 84 Monte Carlo for it. Drove it for six months, and missed my Monte Carlo so much that I traded this for a 1987 Monte Carlo.

My ninth car was a dark blue 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo LS purchased in late 1989 very similar to the one pictured. 305 V8 car loaded. I put custom wheels on it along with a nice Alpine stereo. Would have driven it longer, but, the first Gulf War started up in 1991 and I assumed (incorrectly) that the price of gasoline would skyrocket, so I traded it for a V6 car.

My 10th car was a 1991 Chevy Lumina Euro coupe, and my first ever brand new car purchased in late 1990. Traded the 87 Monte Carlo for it for better gas mileage. It did get better mileage; a whole 5mpg. It was a nice looking car for the time, but, the dash was laid out all over the place, the passenger's door mirror adjustment was on the passenger's door, there was no comfortable place to put your left foot while cruising, and the seatbelt was build into the door so that if the door opened, there was nothing holding you in. Traded it in July 1992.

To continue, in mid 1989 I decided that I wanted a cool old car to drive, and something to restore so I could learn more about working on cars. I found this 1966 Dodge Charger at the Pierce Park car show in Appleton that year. It was not much more than a running parts car that I bought for $1200. After 25 years of work and more money than it will ever be worth, I still have the car today. Most of what I know about working on cars I learned on this car.

I traded the 91 Lumina in July of 1992 on my 11th car, this Electric Blue 1992 Dodge IROC Daytona. 3.0 V6 and manual trans. This was a very comfortable car (for me) and drove like it was on rails. Loved the color! DD'd it for about three years until I decided to put it away as a potential collector car after which it was garaged for several years.

                                    post-2609-0-19157700-1403042373thumb.jp

From this point I can't seem to be able to upload anymore pictures.

In 1995, I attended a swap meet near Milwaukee in late April, and nearly buried my Daytona in a mud hole. I decided that I needed a 4WD vehicle to run to events like this, haul parts and other stuff in. I bought my 12th car, a 1988 Dodge Ramcharger and drove that every day until shortly after I got married in 1999. My wife was too short to get into it, and I knew it would never make a practical family car, so it was sold in October 1999.

In 1998 I came to a decision point with the 1977 New Yorker. It was in need of an engine freshening, the suspension was getting flat, and a few other things were in need of work to keep it really nice. Unsure at the time with the lack of a computer and not a whole lot of resources for obscure parts, I decided to sell the car and buy another collectible. I ended up buying a white 1970 Dodge Charger R/T from a buddy. Had a 440 six pack and 4 speed with black stripes and a bright blue interior. Bought it for $7K and put another $15K into it. Ended up selling in 2004 due to financial issues. Man I wish I still had that car!!

In late 1998 I traded the 92 Daytona for my 13th car, a 98 Chrysler Sebring Limited Convertible. My now wife really wanted a convertible, so we bought this car as a closeout. Charcoal black with a two-tone black and tan leather interior. Was a very nice car and we kept it for about six years.

In 1999, after the sale of the Ramcharger, I made one of the absolute worse car buying decisions in my life. We traded my new wife's 1998 VW Jetta that she was leasing for my 14th car, a 1998 Ford Explorer which was to pull double duty as a family car and junk hauler. Bought it for the trade and $100/mo for the first year. When the year was over, payments skyrocketed to over $700/mo!!!! We were upside down on that thing for years, and finally combined payments on it and the Sebring. Both were traded in 2004 for my wife's current 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. NEVER BUY A CAR USING ONE OF THESE RIPOFF SALES!!!!!!!!!

In 2008, my stepfather passed away, leaving me MY 15th car, his 2006 Ford Crown Victoria which he had paid cash for, and only had 5000 miles on. I drove that car through 2012.

In 2010, I left my job and took and Active Duty tour in Germany to finish out my military career. While I was there, I owned a number of cheap German cars that I worked on to repair different issues. The cars I had were as follows, and in order:

                                    1989 VW Golf 4dr

                                    1992 BMW 525i wagon

                                    1995 BMW 520i wagon

                                    1989 BMW 318 sedan

                                    1991 BMW 520 sedan

                                    1989 VW Golf 2dr

                                    1993 BMW 520i sedan

I did all my own work on these cars in the local Auto Skills shop, a neat place that had lifts, tools, and people to offer help and suggestions for dirt cheap. Learned how to change wheel bearings, change brakes, rebuilt the suspension in the 95 520i wagon, learned all the weird differences that occured in BMW cars during same model years by gutting a 5 series door and discovering that they were nothing alike on the inside, exhaust work on the 318i, etc. I fell in love with older BMW's while doing all this and driving them on Germany's Autobahns.

In 2012 I returned home, sold my 06 Ford, and bought my 16th car, the blue 88 325i Cabrio I now own and daily drive. I had intended to buy an E34, but, my wife wanted another convertible, so I bought the E30 with 62K miles on it. I love this car, although I have a love/dislike relationship with the top. Still miss my E34's, but, would have to sell the E30 as I have neither the room or the money for another car.

That's 16 cars here in the States, and another 7 in Germany. I'm sure I don't hold the record for number of cars owned, but, I have owned quite a few, and enjoyed all of them to varying degrees.
