anybody here know whether the m62 is a zero clearance motor? I have a chance to buy a car with a busted chain and want to know if its worth it...

It is an interference engine

Bent exhaust valves on an M62.

If you are still really interested you could always do a leakdown test on the engine to see which cylinders are affected.
