God dammit people I need a better excuse to leave my vw for a BMW. The only thing I have so far is ease of maintenance in comparison to my vw fwd car, and reliability. Cost of parts are probably the same, and my mom says rwd cars are dangerous for me(I got a ticket drifting in a Acura mdx...) so That's why awd is easy to sell for her! Too bad bmw's awd system is expensive.

Volkswagen/Audis are a pain to work on in comparison to BMW's. They also seem to be more expensive for some reason. By far more expensive than e36's. RWD cars are dangerous if you're a redline running, drift king of the cul-de-sac. I don't believe you are so you shopuld be fine.

I spend Wayyy to much time sideways during the winter. Precisely why my mother thinks its a bad idea. I consider myself a pretty decent driver, and ive known how to handle rwd cars for ages. Every car needs maintenance, but not all cars are easy to do that maintenance. That's why I think the BMW comes out on top. Rwd cars are just easy to work on.

My advice: walk away from any Audi that has over 15 miles on it. Not 15k, 15.0 miles. Anything after that and they're junk. Fo. Realz.

M42's are great until the timing profile gasket goes.

Then coolant is everywhere and your head is toast!

Jb weld and a new gasket is the known solution.

As am I, looks pretty decent and is fairly hard to find a two door five speed ix.

                        Good price too!

That might be a decent winter car... But doesn't the transfer case or something go bad on them?

It could. The main thing is just that they're just expensive to replace.

And I do have a mk3....and I absolutely hate it. They're garbage. Lol

Nando over on R3V has mentioned that his transfer case has survived years of hard launches and abuse in his 325ix, his engine is also quite mod and making a lot more power than stock.

Why would you buy a minty car, only to have Wisconsin winters ruin it? I have felt like asking this question for the past week:o

I dont think any car driven in Wisconsin through the whole year can be expected to win any beauty contests but as long as the chassis isn't rusted through and whatever existing rust is easily repairable then I wouldn't hesitate to grab it. Rust bubbles on the brake lines are something to look out for.
