Buying a Milwaukee tool doesn't force you to hate everything else suddenly. It sounds like you are being a stuck up porter cable or makita owner suddenly.

Picking your brain is interesting and fun by the way!

I don't actually own any portercable products right now, and my only Makita is an old corded drill that I use if my batteries die.  Most of my stuff is Bosch or Hitachi.  People rarely love or hate them.

If I bought a Milwaukee I'd hate me, not everyone else.

No one has ever asked me what tools I have used to work on my car. I guess what my point is, is that if it gets me to the finished product I'm cool with it

My first wife saw my harbor freight impact gun and set my toolbox on fire.

She left me for a snap-on man

After relying on my tools in a professional capacity for so many years I have gathered nice and expensive tools but I've also learned where I can take shortcuts.  My socket's are a mix of duracraft, pittsburgh, craftsman and snap-on and the same can be said about my screw drivers and other items.  My go to wrenches are all Snap-on or Gearwrench and my go-to ratchet is a Snap-on.  I think for someone who just does this stuff at home there are some things worth spending money on such as cordless tools or air tools but they may not notice the difference between a fine tooth ratchet and cheap-o ratchet nor may they care about the difference.

I never knew that tools were such a sensitive topic with you guys.  Shit, we talk about this stuff everyday at work without anyone getting worked up.

Who's being sensitive.  It's just like Ford/Chevy talk or Merc/BMW talk.  People have their opinions.  If you think this is sensitive, I feel bad.

^That is a good point. I've been raised on the tit of Chevrolet and have the mindset that most Fords suck. It's a shame that the Taurus backs that up lol

There's definitely some tools I don't cheap out on, like torque wrenches for example. If it has the ability to damage something much more expensive than the cost of the tool I get a nice one.

However, If I'm only going to use it once in a blue moon, I don't mind cheaping out as long as it gets the job done. I don't need to buy a $100 O2 sensor removal tool from Snap-on to replace a sensor every few years at the most, the one I bought on amazon for $10 did it perfectly fine.

This pretty much hits the nail on the head for me. If I were balls deep into cars or worked on them every day, I would invest in tools that make jobs easier and more efficient. Until then, I would rather spend my money on parts instead of tools. So far I've managed to get stuff done in my garage. Might take (a lot) longer than necessary sometimes, but oh well!

Ben (GunMetalGrey) would have placed 4th in the AWD with snow tire class today, but he was driving a RWD, so instead he took first... in a stock e34 525i with 267k on the clock...

I, quite sadly, was about 2 seconds slower, but to be fair he's had a lot more seat time in my car than I have.

Regardless, good times were had. See you all at the next event 😛
