throw your multimeter on the resistance setting and touch the leads to the speaker's inputs. you should see ~4ohms of resistance. ( i believe these speakers are 4) zero ohms would be dead.
if you dont have a multimeter handy, you can tap a 9v battery to the inputs and the cone should physically move in and out.
obviously any physical damage to the cone would make the speaker bad as well.
