Hoping the CPS being weirdly offset like this is contributing to my cutout issue when driving. 

And, a couple of the new daily. I'm really liking it. Totally different than the 325i wagon, but I like being back in a Volvo and the swedish styling is great. I had a 2010 S80 for a little while and it is one of my more favorite interiors.

That offset CPS could be a problem for sure.

That is a nice looking interior, its only lacking one thing;.....................a third pedal.

Merry Christmas everyone. Anyone ever make some type of table to set the engine on rather than a stand? Would be nice to work on the block without it being on the hoist to do things like the RMS. 

No e30, but the new wagon looks right at home in the snow.

Picked up a lower mileage G260 to put in it and then will have a spare. Also got trunk carpets and sound deadening to get the trunk back together. Have some stuff off to Zach for powder coating. RHD flywheel should be here soon. Then I can start putting stuff back together . 

And enjoyed some of the warm weather to wash the car. Loving the new daily.

Some good stuff last night. Got the hole in the driver rear wheel well patched up and coated with undercoating. 

And put a hitch on the wagon.

Had an opportunity to get a lower mileage m20b25 for a good deal and they delivered it. Plans are to disassemble it and then rebuild it over the summer and maybe put it in next winter. I figured with the age of these cars having a spare drivetrain is a good idea. 

Also working on cleaning up the spare g260.

You maybe know this already but when disassembling an M20 don't remove the bearings for the idler shaft unless there is something wrong with them, hit me up if you need any m20 rebuilding tips.  I have done one before.

I remember reading something about that a while ago. I need to get the current engine back in the car before I even touch this one, but will definitely have some questions I'm sure.

The car has a floor in the trunk again!

$9 for some paneling at menards anf $19 for the roll of carpet. Still need to cut the piece for the back of the trunk and then cut a piece of carpet for it. But huge improvement.

Other than a little bit of trimming, the trunk is all done. In hindsight I wish I would have used a single panel for the entire floor and then glued carpet to that, but, I'll save that for a later time. 

And the transmission is all cleaned up. Removed the tail and input flanges to replace the seals. Surprisingly the tailshaft flange nut came right off and the flange slid off. I didn't need to use a puller at all.

When you reinstall the output flange make sure to follow the torque procedure, it's a tighten, loosen, then tighten thing.  It seats the bearing but then the final torque is less.  That is normal for it to slide right out, it is just a straight spline.

If you over tighten the nut it will eventually wreck the bearing.  I know from experience, it will happen at the moment your wife is driving the car with her mom to get their hair done before your sister in laws wedding.

Is this procedure laid out in the Bentley manual? I'll have to double check it, it didn't see this procedure called out in any of the write-ups I went through when I did it on my other transmission.

And the output flange did not slide right off on my other transmission, it took a gear puller and some muscle. Most experiences I read on this people had some trouble getting them off. Maybe it's a good sign.

BMW recommends Loctite 242 for newer transmissions, but that may not be

Apply the sealant to the splines on the flange only, not the shaft
splines. Slide the flange on, and apply sealant to the bearing surface
of the collar nut. Tighten in two rounds: tighten to 125 ftlb, loosen
1/4 to 1/2 a turn, then tighten to 90 ftlb. This assures that the
flange is fully seated on the output shaft, not on trapped sealant.

That is exactly the procedure I was thinking of.  I supposed the difficulty removing the flange depends on how much sealant was applied previously.
