Yes, but everyone who does has their game face on, doesn't look at or talk to anyone else and is there solely to set a lap record and have a statue erected in their honor.
That's about right. They all think they're the next overweight Senna or Alonso with their tricked out helmet, Piloti shoes and Simpson gloves.
