Is it common for those injector O-rings to fail?

On e46's it is a common fail.  The symptoms would be smelling gas while not seeing a leak, extended crank time after it's been sitting or brief rough idle at start up.  The O-rings fail because they are old and brittle and they definitely need to be replaced after removing the injectors but it's also a common fail item.

Replaced the steering linkage. It's a totally new car now!

The old/original linkage was so hard to move and the u-joints were clunky and loose. To get the bold one to move I had to bang it on the concrete multiple times.5f3883becc219d79dd68f525c1aa5bf8.jpgeec130bda15f1031ff2ffc3f586ed196.jpg

How was the install on that? Need to do it on Robin's car pretty soon as hers has a u-joint going bad as well.

Not bad. Take off the drivers wheel. 2 8mm 12point bolts and some careful prying and hammering. Do the bottom first. Some WD40 a day before the removal wouldn't be a bad idea.

Im glad it exists because there is some real in depth discussion and useful info going on there but there is something comical about an entire forum dedicated to arguing about the best oil.

Copper RTV along with OEM gaskets. With those eBay headers I don't want to risk anything.

Just need a tune now to make the engine light go away and pick up 3 horsepower. Over all, pretty happy with the car. It's fun!

Working with Tuning Tech by Frank Smith for the tune. Apparently my DME is locked out, probably an Evolve tune, and I cannot read/flash the DME. Going to have to by a DME, send it to Frank Smith and he will bench flash it with my VIN. FUN!

-Got the trans fluid and filter replaced. Used Redline ATF.

-Radiator was leaking so I replaced that.

-Popped in a metal water pump.

                                      -New lower coolant temp sensor.
