I have tried royal purple mtl in my g250, it worked fine and kept a dying gearbox ( had less than a cup of oil when I bought the car) going for another 30k. But redline d4 atf mixed with mt90 shifts better and keeps gear rattle to a minimum with an aluminum flywheel. I like the mt90 for transmissions that call for a 75w90 gl4 oil because it is a synthetic that is only gl4. There are lots that claim to be gl4/5 but the shifting is better with the mt90, dunno.

I ran royal purple in my ZF and also had the "impossible to shift into first at a light" symptoms. Got a "new" ZF waiting to be installed. LT2 OEM or equivalent oil will be my oil of choice moving forward.

full day today. glad to get this stuff done, though. may is going to be busy with other stuff.
suspension fully swapped. rides great. firmer than stock, but nearly the same comfort. have the koni's set right in the middle of adjustment (1 turn from full soft or 1 turn from full stiff).
strut collars where pretty stuck, and the little 10" pipe wrench didnt cut it, so i built this. we be rebuilding it for the zombie apocalypse if needed. great swing weight.

rears ready to go in. yes, duct tape. i cut the stock bump stops in half, and didnt trust only glue to hold the foam together.
mmmm dumped. love the ride height, tires are just at the fender, front and back. slight rake. back my come down a touch once i put everything back inside the car, though.
also got to the 'dog bone' rear subframe links replaced.

also got the trans fluid changed to the Redline D4 ATF. so far much better than the RP. whiny noises are quieter, no trouble getting into first, quicker shifts.

I had two bottles of RP synchromax left over from my first e36 that I never put in, glad I saw this thread because now I'll just let it collect dust and save myself the trouble

did some 'spirited' driving today...wow this car can actually handle! even on stock 15" snow tires, its finally a blast to chuck around the corners. the tires are a little overworked and i think i got some extra toe-out from the lowering (squeeeeeeeeel) but the handling is very neutral, and any slop or clunking is finally gone.
hopefully the 18" setup will improve things even more.

Got a couple more things done from the spring cleanup list. hoping to be all done with everything next weekend so I can spend the rest of the summer enjoying the car and doing other summer things.
got some new floor mats. have been running rubber ugly mats that came with the car since I got it.
also, when I did the suspension swap, i found one dead ball joint on the thrust arms, and one dead one on a sway bar link, so i swapped those out, got an alignment, and got the summer wheels on. I went to Firestone since they were closest to my house and had some open time in the morning, but i had to sit there and convince them they could do the alignment... 'Oh, we're sorry, we don't align BMWs here because of all the weight that is required, blah, blah, blah.' SOB its a 20 year old car with only one adjustment!
anyways it was worth it because i was able to put the new kicks on. 18x8" (square) Style 32s with 225/45 all-seasons. Went with those tires for lower weight, less rolling resistance, and road-tripping ability (mountain snow, dirt roads, etc)
she's begging for spacers in the back, but we will see.

Looks stunning! A front lip of some sort would really complete the package.
I know you did the manual swap, are you still planning to do a 4.0 swap down the road?

thanks. yes, you are right about the front lip. i have a plan for that.
yeah 4.0 in the future. after being forced to drop $$$ on the valley pan/intake leaks, i think i'll run the 3.0 as far as it will go, though.

Look to be about 3/8", come with extended lugs, ECS Tuning brand.
