Yep, it's not hard to find people who are willing to try your beer. My Mr. Beer stuff turned out okay, but it has a strange taste in it. I think it's from the sanitizer, but I'm not sure. My first "real" batch will be going into bottles very soon, and I've got high expectations for it.

Regardless, as pointed out, sanitation is very important. It's one thing that can completely ruin the whole batch, so the risk-to-rewards ratio of taking shortcuts in that area isn't very favorable.

The only other tip I have so far is to walk through the whole process step-by-step ahead of time to make sure you've got a good idea what you're doing and to make sure you have all of the equipment that you'll need on hand. If you've made wine before you should have a pretty good grasp of the process already.

      Have fun!

I recognized how ridiculous my statement was as I typed and thought to myself "well, fuck it."

          Making beer at home

Rule #1: Your first batch won't be very good.

Step 2: Enjoy your crappy beer. after all, its still beer.

          C. Try again.

If you can make it to a second batch, you will end up making some good beer.

Sounds good, I am pretty careful, I will be using heat rather than spray sanitizer. I have a 20qt pot and tube style wort chiller.

I have been using a sulfate solution, I sanitize everything that touches the beer in any way with that stuff.

Also, due to deteriorating ice conditions and getting to run before the AWD cars, I was able to post the fastest time fo a non-studded car. yay me!

So was Ben studded or was the e34 really faster than his snow munching machine?

His.. er... "vehicle" has mud/all-terrain tires, which aren't very good on ice. The welded diff also makes it a challeng to corner. It would be interesting to see how well it would do in a dirt rallyx...

The tires are great in snow, but are not quite as good as true snow tires on ice.
The welded diff makes it extremely interesting when letting off the gas at all. Immediate "oversteer".
Rally-X will be interesting in it, that's for sure!

A flat black 928 with a small block is not worthy of that article IMO.

You might be right. I doubt too many purist would "crap their khakis "over a 928. It's still cool to see something local on Jalopnik though.

I've know the Feras for awhile.  I think the car is pretty cool, but equally impressive is them doing everything themselves (and quite well I may add). Some of the details of the car are done really well and says a lot for their age/experience.
