The backs look like they have no bolsters to hold you in. Is that just the camera angles?
They do look uncomfortable! But awesome at the same time. -
They are supposedly very comfortable. I won't sit in them until I install the brackets to keep them from getting scratched up. They are very well bolstered, bad camera angle.
The inserts are red Alcantara, I also have a set of black ultrasuede.
And as a note, I got these at a DEEP discount since they were demos.

Where/why does someone obtain seats that cost more than my e46?

Is the motor back in it by the way?
Motor was never removed. Trans has been in and out a few times. Will need to come out again.

Damn, those look sweet. You have 4 of them? 2 black and 2 red?
I want the red ones... Lol, I couldn't justify that coin on some butt cushions though.

That is an intense number of holes in the bumper support.

This was done so when he chopped and welded it the mounting points don't move.
