why why why? a ford 5.0? someone didnt realize e34s came with m60s that had 50% more output.

They had a higher output from the factory but they are about 100% more expensive to make go faster.  The 5.0 with gt40 heads, cam and an intake will put it around 300hp then you have the ridiculous aftermarket to make it even faster.  So much on the m60 has been optimized from the factory that your only options left are forced induction or a chip and cams which will cost quite a bit for minimal gains (chip and cams).

i've driven a 300hp 5.0, and although its fast, the power delivery is not the same as any 300hp BMW.  less smooth and the power falls off too fast. seemingly equal numbers do not give the same experience.   don't forget all the extra custom work to get the 5.0 to fit into an e34. he had to do custom headers and relocated the brake booster besides all the regular swap stuff. and the shift console looks great....

                          Yeah a 300hp SBF typically has 350+tq so it's way faster than a m6x.

The intake manifold on an EFI 5.0 is quite dorky looking. Flow and performance are dictated purely by how bitchin the manifold looks

The stock intake mani is quite garbage and notoriously restrictive. With a nice intake mani you can gain 15-20 whp easily, without porting.
