That's one of the BMW's of Wisconsin guys. The car seems to be pretty rotten but it is a cali top. Might be worth saving but definitely a project.

In all fairness, I posted a wanted ad on craigslist like 5 years ago looking for an e36 and that's how I got my old 318is. The guy hadn't considered selling it and emailed me, the only benefit to the wanted ad is that you may find someone with a nice car they haven't listed yet. I'm definitely not defending that ad however haha

It's at my house now. Buddy I went to high school with owns it. Chassis isn't very bad at all. Mainly surface rust. Underbody looks great, but the Cali top sucks.

Bought it with supposed rod knock for 400$

But it doesn't have rod knock. Seems like it's off timing.

Looks to be an m52 manifold though with the gapping hole in the bottom. Am I mistaken? Ports also look smaller than an m50 manifold.

Correct, on the x52 application, x50 manifolds don't have that plate, only a connection for the CCV hose.
