So, I finally had some time to work on the car last night. Was able to get the exhaust out and wrapped, but did not get the exhaust back on entirely. My fuel lines (that decided to start leaking) will finally be here today so those will go in the car.

    Pictures!

So all in all I am super happy with how it turned out, and it most certainly came at a cost. The exhaust is crazy high up in the car for being 3" , as you can see the lowest spot is probably less than half an inch below the frame rail. Compared to what other exhaust I have seen it is very impressive.

Blew the fuse on the battery , my fault. Luckily there is a fuse in line. Now to put in a replaceable one!

Got my coil setup so I can hook up a timing light to the plug wire and check/confirm my timing when I fire it up next, which also means I have to drive it (20 mile break in)

Have been working on little things here and there, getting coolant in and fixing leaks, just odds and ends. Got megasquirt to sync up completely with full sequential injection so that is pretty darn cool.

              More as it happens!

So. As usual I suck at updating things once they get underway. I was able to get the car started, but was unable to drive it (running super rich) I spent a bit of time going through my settings and found that my injector pulsewidth base number was about 10MS, but for my injector setup I wanted about 8MS max. That leaned things out a bit! I am working on getting the tune better but was able to put on a few miles yesterday. A few comments about that.

Holy crap is the turbo loud.... Like, REALLY loud. Kind of awesome, but not the stealth that I was hoping for.

It spools FAST. Data log shows %50 throttle, 3100RPM and 7psi (current limit)

The timing was not set correctly, so it wasn't fast, but I could tell it wanted to be. Very excite to tune! (Much excite, very boost)

Also, the clutch feels like stock apparently, so that's also cool!

Hopefully vids once I get it tuned a bit better!

The Tune is so bad I am almost embarrassed to send them! But I will!

I look forward to being able to actually tune from these logs, other ones were so bad that I couldn't.

Were you able to find a published dead time value for your injectors?

given, that a published dead time isnt going to be exactly what it will be when running in your car, but the "typical range" of ~1.0-1.2ms iirc for high impedance injectors was pretty far off. Published was 0.64ms and the tune stability increased drastically.Ā

Before that I would get it tuned well, then the next day it would be off a bit.

I am running low impedance with resistors, and have them at .8ms right now, default MS3 value was 1ms

Where did you find Published values?

Kind of realizing that I should have went with High-Z injectors, but I got mine for an amazing price, but still had to pay for resistors and whatnot to drive them properly. Maybe I will make an upgrade to High-Z later, maybe with a bigger flow rate for some corn.

This is the best list i have found, my injectors were luckily listed there. Otherwise random bits of info online from forum users with the same injectors

As far as break in, what is the correct procedure?

For motorcycles, I always rode them hard and changed oil frequently.

Roommate just rebuilt his 2stroker. And then blew it up two hours later.

Just curious about your turbo'd break in procedure.

Well I hate that I have to try to tune and break in at the same time.... I am following the "don't be gentle" break in. Load the engine, lots of engine breaking, lots of changing oil (20 miles, 50, 100, 200,500) and it worked very well for tims(deadskittles) fully built s52 so I am following that.

If I cannot get a better tune very quickly I will be dropping a stock harness and ecu and injectors on it (with MAF) to put 100 or so miles on it so I am not abusing the fresh engine.

Just spent an hour working with tables and smoothing them and reducing them, and pulling more timing out. I did setup the VE analyze live so that I can use that to attempt to get closer and not screw it all up!

                                          Set tpsdot threshold to 999%/s

When you are done with ve tuning set it back to whatever it is that you want it to be (130%/s is what i use) then adjust the nodes to add or subtract enrichment. Too much will bog. Too little will lean backfire
