Euro 528i back from the dead!
-
Today was a good day as I pulled the euro out of storage!
Here is where she has been sitting since July. Glad it was a nice, warm sunny day today as I spent about 1.5 hours loading it on the trailer by myself (no rear suspension makes it a lot of fun
)Hauled up to the new shop in Port Washington, even got to unload it all inside

Cleaned off the snow and now its time to start wrenching!
List of to do's to get this driving:
- Reseal motor (if needed, hasn't run in almost 7 years not sure on condition)
- Upgrade to Motronic 1.3 (in preparation for megasquirt down the road)
- Install new clutch
- Put in complete drivetrain/exhaust
- Probably will install new suspension components
- Put interior back in
- Buy/Install euro headlights
GOOD MAN

Next time you guys are wrenching hard up there let me know! I'll bring the beer!

Chris, the shop looks damn nice and spacious too! Now time to get some work done on that puppy!

Looks good Chris. I wish I had a shop like that.

I'm gonna out grow this pretty quick though! The spot to the right of the euro is for the other car and that's all I got (basically a two car garage). I'll have some storage space on the big racks but still I have a lot of parts and I'm planning on getting more
Plan is to have my garage emptied out next weekend and get all set up and then I'll have you guys over

I've seen sets of grills and headlights going for $250 on ebay pretty consistently, although I'll see if I can get some shipped over cheaper.
Cool, I offered the PO $500 for that car 5 years ago. At the time it was down near UWM. Glad to see you bringing it back to life.
Basically what I paid for the car minus the interior and rare euro parts
That can all be replaced though! -
Anyone on here got friends in Europe?

When the time comes I will! I gotta wait a couple months before I can buy parts. Mostly gonna be tearing things down right now.

Whatt?? Chris worked on a car today??
So I finally drove up to see Brian for his part-out and bought the original interior for this car back. He also hooked me up with some other random goodies I needed like a good windshield, radiator and a '85 535i instrument cluster. It was a late night as I left for Oshkosh around 7 and got back after midnight with a suburban full of E28 parts.
Cleared all the crap I had thrown in the car out if it
I figured before I put in the carpet I should take car of the stereo situation. Looking at the car there was basically nothing left of the original stereo harness and just some speaker wire running around on the floor
I saved a premium sound system harness from my first E28 part out so I figured this would be a good application for it. Since this is a early model car they didn't have the option for it yet so there is no mounts under the rear deck for the amp and I'll have to run the wiring through the front doors for the door tweeters.Surprisingly for having stored this car outside for 8 months with open windows there was no water damage in the interior! The car cover did its job. The floor pans on this car look like new.
Got the back seat and rear decklid in
535i cluster seems to be working! I've never seen green service indicator lights on in one of my E28's haha
The head unit had power but didnt turn on, I think this is because I didn't have the harness wired into the ignition yet.
Front seats are in but I need more mounting bolts.
I also visited Merl today and he kindly donated his old 535i front exhaust section. It probably won't bolt up to the M30B28 manifolds but maybe the B35 mani's. That or I'll chop it up and make it work somehow.
So that's it for now. I mainly put the interior in today because I'm moving (again) so that means this car will be on the back burner till I get things set up in Madison. Looking forward to having more space and all my parts in one place.
