from what i read, its just about not putting too much refrigerant in (allowing the pressure to get too high). should be pretty easy.

Well, the refrigerant went somewhere.. so there is obviously a leak. Unless you vented the system of course.

No A/C here, took it out when rebuilding and it's still in the basement.  Just sweating on the black leather...

The car came with no belt so I was concerned the compressor was seized. Much to my surprise I threw a belt on her on Tuesday during my lunch and the ac works fine!

Yes.  It'd be hard to take summer drives without A/C.

AC on my E30 would work if not for a leak in the system somewhere.  Seems like it's in the low side fitting.  Can't do anything with it now as I tried to put REDTEK refrigerant into it and now no AC shop will touch it.  Don't know how to work on AC systems myself.
