So ... Not really bad news, it just delays us a bit. When I ordered the pistons, I ordered them for my engine but I never cross-referenced the numbers ... hind sight 20/20. The pistons call for a 92.5 bore and the factory block is 92.0 ... Pistons don't fit. The reason I say this is not really bad news is the fact that I did have some pitting in my cylinders. Not scoring, just pitting as the car sat for years at one point in it's life. Now we have to bore .5 mm over which will take care of all those flaws and give me a cleaner cylinder.

So .. block will go in Monday. We will have to see how long it will take to get done and I still need Mat at Urban Motorworx to complete the longblock as I want him to verify clearances and time it.

Good news is that we put in all new main and connecting rod bearing and it was spot on. Clearances there were all right in the middle of spec. With the crank torqued down, it spun with minimal effort.

Most of my pics are on my real camera and I will upload those later but you do get the assembled pistons in their resting place for the time being.....

            there's no replacement for displacement.

            unless you turbo......

but we all know what that means..

The 735i engine bay looks similar to this

After a marathon weekend, the engine is in and it STARTED !! ... Ran a heat cycle on it and did the final head torque. There is a handfull of things to button up and I do seem to have some tune issues but there was no time left for troubleshooting as I was exhausted ... Freakin thing sounds wonderful at idle though  :o

It's on the road as of 11:00 PM last night or so ... Took it home and drove it to work today. The car is unreal ... Loud, fast, idles like a broken washing machine ... just wow !!
