The Photography Thread

As a photographer, this is one of the most annoying things to hear.
It isn't the camera, there are so many factors that go into getting good photos.
It's like saying, "I wish I had Picasso's brushes so I could paint good pictures."
I think he means that as far as the quality of the picture goes.
I do know what you're saying though. Its like complimenting a chef on a meal, saying he must have an expensive grill.
Edit: Nevermind, he already chimed in.
-
yeah but you can't say that having nice equipment can't make a bad photographer (or chef) better. pictures tend to look better with 1bajillion pixels. food tends to not overcook if your grill's infrared sensor tells you the grill is too hot.
for instance, that moon shot would have look like absolute crap if someone handed you a crappy P&S, no matter how good you are.
but yeah, pro's take great shots with any camera you hand them.

Ignore my nasty roundel

-
Just to prove my point. This was taken with an iPhone 4. If you have something that can snap a picture, you can take good pictures.

I know this is mostly picture-based stuff, but I put together a DIY home-made slider for under $30 and quickly tested it out before it started pouring.

Finally got my pictures developed from memorial weekend in Door County. There are also a few from a roll I took hanging out with TJ sometime last year. They'r not the best, but they were all taken with my 1981 Minolta Hi Matic AF2. I need to learn more about ISO settings
