Back in 2009 my father had been out of work for a couple years after a major car accident and some complications he was looking for a cheap and reliable car. He's owned over half a dozen E28's so naturally he looked for one and purchased a 1986 528e 5spd. This was the same time I was going through drivers ed, so he ended up teaching me how to drive a manual transmission. After I got the hang of it, I fell in love and looked for one of my own! I ended up finding this 1988 Super Eta on craigslist in Brookfield and purchasing it for $1000. Sadly this is the best picture I can find from the day after I got it. Car was mint on the interior and exterior was great besides the impeding rust on the rocker panels. I loved this car and drove it everyday, it even served pizza delivery duties which was a blast!
I sold the car back to my father for what I bought the car for when I left for college as I didn't want to pay for parking at school and my brother had just got his licensee and needed a car also. The car started having issues though with an electrical drain and fuel delivery so he frequently got stranded. Then during the middle of my first semester I got a call saying my father had hit a deer with the car (ironically on the same curve he totaled his E39 540i)
At that point after replacing almost the entire fuel system, car still wasn't running great so it was parked in the driveway and parted out.
When I decided I wanted to work part-time at Concours while going to school, I ended up needing a car to commute from campus to work. Seeing as I was looking for a BMW in the beginning of november, there weren't too many choices. I wanted to get into a E36 seeing how cheap and easy modifications could be done to them and sadly this 318is was the best example I could find for $1800. It was spray painted matte black over the Alpine white because the kid thought it would be cool. Besides the paint the car was in great shape body wise and engine ran great.
I found myself still dreaming about E28's and got tired of looking at the car's ugly state. So I aborted my plans for fixing up the car and proposed a trade with my brother who was driving my father's E28. My father approved and I got myself back into the classic 5 series
As you all know this is my current project which I plan to completely rebuild back to its former glory. It started getting fussy though getting to a point where little things started breaking each week, so I looked for a daily driver and ended up getting my dream truck, a 1998 C2500 6.5l Turbo Diesel Suburban. This serves as my daily and parts hauler. $3200 for a 1 owner, dealer maintained truck was a great deal!
Because of the suburban I was able to start hoarding parts I needed for the E28 build. I got a little crazy and ended up buying acquiring what was left of a 1985 german spec 528i (M30B28). Not sure what I got myself into with this but I hope it will soon be my track car!
So with the exception of my first car, I have a thing for buying cars with front end damage

It started off with a 98 malibu that my dad said I could either keep, or sell and getting something of my choice (I was 15 at this point) so obviously I went with the sell option. Sold it for 2200 and picked this up for 1500, it was rough to say the least.
Put a lot of time into it and turned it into this,
And as you can see in that picture, picked up an 89 325is that was auto and had a blown motor for 1300.
Put an m50 into that, and five speed swapped it at the same time, turned that into this.
Then grabbed an 88 325 for 800 bucks,
It was a pile for sure, it had hit a deer in its lifetime and was pretty messed up, got rid of that after two months for a good profit and picked up a 93 blazer for 1400.
Grabbed an e36 for 500 bucks, drove it home and pulled the motor,
subframe had broken in the back of it so it was toast anyway.
And just a few days ago I got a whole deal worked out and obtained a 86 325e with 140k on it. The new daily

The first car I owned was a 1995 Toyota Corolla with 98k on it when I was 16. I dont have any pictures of it because at the time I was not into cars at all at that point.
After having some friends that were into cars, DSM's and mitsu to be specific, I quickly got drawn into that scene and picked up a 2000 eclipse gs, which I just did some basic mods to and enjoyed driving it:
I eventually became bored with how slow it was. I saved up some money and bought a 1992 Plymouth Laser Turbo, which I put in some gauges, swapped in a 16g turbo, put on a fmic, and had it running solid at 15psi. This thing was a piece, but the motor was rock solid and it pulled suuuper hard.
It was fun for a while, but was bored with the FWD game, and then discovered e30s. I had my mind 100% set on getting one, and after a couple months of looking I picked up my first 1986 325e. I was absolutely in love with driving this car. Even for how slow the m20 was.
After putting countless hours of work and learning almost everything I know today from this car, I scrapped it and bought the blue one, which is now what most of you know I have.
At around this time, I realized that with the job I had I would be able to buy something really nice and be able to easily make loan payments. So I sold my eclipse, took out a loan, and picked up my favorite car to date. A 2005 Mitsubishi Evo 8. It had basic bolt-ons, coilovers, and a tune that put down 320awhp. For those of you who dont know, this car was actually stolen. Which I found out after trying to pass emissions. I brought it to the Waukesha impound lot and havent seen it since. I am currently in the middle of a lawsuit for my money back.
Now I just daily my silver e46 323i. Thats all!

Lets share my cars shall we=)
I started off with a 1991 Buick LeSabre Custom. My dad bought it as a beater for $800. It was really clean besides a cracked mirror and a small dent in the passenger rear quarter panel. I got it about two years after he bought it. It had started to rust and looked worse than it was due to being white. The inside was so comfy with the red velvety cloth. I miss this car. It was my first and only automatic car too=) On to a picture (not even close to the time I got it)
I drove this on and off through my next cars up until this happened:
I got rear ended in a blizzard on the way to work one morning. I ended up getting $1400 from the guys insurance, and sold the car for $500. I later found out he was drunk when he hit me=/
Go back in time a bit. I bought this 1988 Mazda B2200 pickup for $400 my Senior year of High School. I think it had around 140,000 miles on it. It had absolutely no clutch left. You could start it and let it idle in all gears and it wouldn't move. My father and I put in a new clutch and I drove this around for around 6 months.
I just did basic maintenance, but always wanted to lower it. I ended up volcanoing some coolant via a burst radiator hose. This blew the headgasket and ended the fun=/ I then went back to driving the Buick until I found and bought my dream car. A 1986 Chrysler Conquest TSi.
Everyone say "Hi Earls Mum". lol Anyways I bought the car for $1900 and it had 103,000 miles on it. Ran great during the test drive and drove smashingly well on the way home. But that is where it ended=( After a half hour of driving, I started to hear a knock. Not knowing what it was I continued to drive. The knock started getting louder and louder, and I noticed my oil pressure was going lower and lower. I ended up getting off the road and having it towed home. After deeming it a rod bearing my dad pulled the motor. Here we remeber that the PO told us he just replaced the rod bushings. Number 4 was non existent=/ He did a shit job of torquing them down. I then started building up the G54B slowly.....and never finished in the almost 3 years I've owned the car. I still have it, but have sold most of the parts I aquired. I might just throw a 350 in it so I can just drive it and give no shits=D
Anyways, I continued driving the Buick since I had three cars at the time. I then traded the Mazda straight up for a 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit pickup. It ran and drove and that's all that mattered. I don't know the mileage since it was swapped. I did nothing to this besides basic maintenance and some paint on the valve cover. I also had 3.5" drop plates made for the rear, and bought some XXR's for cheap just to have good tires. It looked hilarious.
A PO before the guy I bought it from had done the paint=/ It used to be diesel and they did a 1.7 swap. With the diesel trans it wound out at a tad over 75 but was scary to drive even at 65 due to the high revs. It had an almost non existent passenger floor board. I ended up selling it after the gas gauge stopped working. This led me to selling it just so I could pick up the next car the same day. A 1983 Toyota Celica Supra P-Type. It had 113,000 miles on it, but definitely looked as if it had more.
I bought it for $850 and drove it for about 2 months before the headgasket gave up=/ lol It had the most bondo I have ever seen used on one car. I never even got to beat on it=( It did have tokico blues and eibach springs I found out after getting under it. I then needed a car badly and happened across the Ti. I bought it for $2200 with 144,000ish miles.
You guys know the story with her. lol Then I was forced to buy my 1996 Volkswagen Golf GL as my winter beater for $700.
I beat the hell out of it climbing things all the time. That is my car history=)

Wheels....They're stock. And it isn't clean anymore. The underbody is more solid than any one you will ever see, but the normal rot spots have shown their repairs.
It is a waste for me to rebuilding this motor anymore Brian. It would have been back together over a year ago if I would have gotten the block hot tanked. You forget that the turbo was blown too. I have all new internals sitting around, a basically brand new crank, and I have a majority of the parts to do it but it's not getting finished. The BMW is getting my loving, and this can turn into a bastard 350 car=) The g54b is a good motor if you keep up on it. It is an attention whore and can easily kill a wallet.

At 16 my parents gave me a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport 2wd. I beat the living snot out of this thing! Learned how to do brakestands in it which also taught me how to do U-Joints and driveshafts. I could fit 4 passengers plus all of our BMX bikes in and on the Jeep.
Sold the Jeep to purchase my great grandmothers 1994 Toyota Corolla with 34xxx miles on it so I could commute to UTI in Illinois everyday. I put the largest can I could find on the end of it and called it a day. I hated this vehicle with a passion but it got me to and from school everyday and I put over 80k miles on it in a lil over 2 years and it never failed me....
Until the day I picked up my 1995 325is and my corolla put a rod through the block. Talk about timing!
I overpaid like nobodys business for the 1995 325is because I was young and dumb and I wanted a BMW. No mods only maintenance and I sold it for $800 with almost 200k miles and still running strong.
Shortly after I bought the corolla I picked up a 1993 240sx rust free from Texas. Head gasket blew so I decided this was the perfect time to swap out the KA with 150xxx miles for an s14 KA with around 60k and a turbo build started. This simple little summer project ended up going on for almost 6 years, being transfered to 7 different garages and I finally had to sell her last summer.
That brings me to my current 1997 328i 5spd. I found it on the cab ride home after going out on Water st. the night before Thanksgiving, talked to him on Thanksgiving, picked it up that Friday and had the alternator die on the way home. The "new" one he advertised was too small because the car was wired for the car phone. Then in January my fan deleted itself on hwy 100. This meant a TMS aluminum radiator went in and upgraded water pump. She's a work in progress but she brings a smile to my face every day.
Not the longest list on here but every car had a purpose at a certain point in my life and brought some great memories along with.

My first experience with modification. I did a lot of work/modification on this car, but my enthusiasm outweighed my ability and the car was never as good as it should've been. I learned a lot from this car. Sold it to a guy from Alabama.
#4: 1990 BMW 325i
Bought this in an attempt to get away from Volvos due to my frustrations with the previous car. I loved every second of owning this car, and only sold it so that I could afford to pay for my last year of college without taking out a loan. It is now in great hands, owned by Ian (visian on this forum).
#5: 1990 Volvo 240 DL
Purchased as a cheap beater to replace the e30. I did a couple little cheap mods to it and drove the heck out of it. Worth every penny. Traded it for the next car.
#6: 1990 Volvo 740 turbo SE
Traded for this because it was a deal I couldn't pass up. The SE is rather rare and sought after in the Volvo world. Did a lot of maintenance on it and then traded it yet again for my current 240.
#7: 1989 Mercedes 300e
My brother gave me this car as a present. I really liked it, but it was plagued by k-jet issues, so I got rid of it cheap. I wish I wouldn't have had to let it go.
#8: 1984 Volvo 240 turbo
Was my brother's car, then a joint project we worked on, then my own project. Swapped a late model turbo motor into it and in general put way too much time and money into it. Sold it to a friend for cheap.
#9: 1987 Volvo 240 DL
This is my project car. A lot of time and a lot of money are in it. Nothing is stock anymore.
#10: 1998 Volvo S70 T5 SE
Picked this up to be my comfy daily driver so the aforementioned 245 could undergo more serious modification. Last week a drunk motorcyclist crashed into me, totally it. Hoping to find a replacement soon.
Wow, I guess I really am a Volvo guy. Still plenty of love for BMW's though.

I love threads like this - some awesome vehiculars. Mine is more of the two wheeled kind, though.
First vehicle I ever owned in my name. Loved it so much and learned everything I know from it. Used to take out the engine and rebuild it in my apartment bedroom in college in 4 hours. So easy to work on and learn from.
Second bike ever owned - big step up from the 250. 1994 CBR900RR with a stupid sprocket setup.
Just sold her in Decemeber, had it since 2009.
