Anyone going this year? I went last year and had a ball, anyone who’s anyone should consider attending! https://www.atthevintage.com Beyond the mind meltingly cool cars (S38 swapped E9, anyone?), it’s a fantastic group of degenerates that all love this old iron and want to keep them on the road. I met so many people with wonderful stories to tell, from a woman who took Euro delivery of her ‘76 2002 and still owns it, to teenagers buying their first projects, and everything in between. I’ve been less active with cars the last few years but this brought it back fast. Like the sticker says, do it for the kink.  [image: IMG\_9278.jpeg] [image: IMG\_9348.jpeg] [image: IMG\_9423.jpeg]

The "i" at the end of the model name (Ex:325i) used to indicate fuel injected models in BMW's naming convention has finally been removed and will now only appear in front of the model names (ex: i8) to represent electrification. In my opinion its kind of crazy that the "i" has lasted as long as it has and that this is a good change. I still think that the naming nomenclator of BMW models is somewhat confusing once the marketing team got involved, but this is probably a step in the right direction to simplification.  https://www.carscoops.com/2024/04/bmw-will-transition-to-using-i-designation-only-on-electric-vehicles/ [image: Genuine BMW M140i Replacement Badge In Silver, 49% OFF]

YoungCR said: I saw an XM yesterday, didn’t know what it was at first but wasn’t about the design at all. besides the lip under the rear window that is also an ugly carry over from the SUV’s I like this as well. I think the tail lights and mid section of the rear have some Z8 influence.  I would be surprised if we got it too but seems like it’s different enough from the Supra coupe that it could be marketed at a higher price point.  The XM is atrocious. If you wanted that kind of styling, why wouldn’t you buy a Urus or something instead? That’s who I think they’re chasing, the RSQ8 (which I think looks way better still), Urus, big flabby ostentatious SUV market.    Give me as much Z8 influence as possible I think they might have a slot to market it as more of a GT alternative to the Supra sports car; soften it up, make it sporty but long distance comfy and be the perfect stylish 2 person touring car. I don’t think a sports car like that makes sense with the two series/M2 and Supra already existing. I think it’s not likely it ever sees production either way though.

Looks like Dinan is running a pretty crazy sale on some of their wheels. Huge price cuts down to less than $400/set! Unfortunately only 19" and up sizes but still a cool deal. Flow Formed Wheels - Dinan (dinancars.com)

My guess is that generally, since more powerful motors are needed for increased power (there could be a possibility of milking more out of the existing ones with software tweaks, but brushless motor “tuning” is not a simple thing) and finding an e-motor that actually works with the existing control system and physically fits is going to be a huge challenge, they just said to hell with it and left it alone. Generally speaking, power upgrades with EV’s is going to be much harder than with IC’s.

I have a couple of things piling up and want to find a reasonable shop that specializes in E30s. Timing belt Troubleshooting of rough idle and misfire/random revs around 3000-4000 RPM Z3 steering rack upgrade AC conversion I'd like to avoid Kelly Moss.

I opened that expecting a fake article, that thing looks so weird. I can’t believe this is the direction they want to keep taking. Gross.

I made it to Helen, and was planning on driving back up Saturday morning. I checked the weather and it was 20 degrees colder and called for thunderstorms so I decided against going. It looks like the weatherman was wrong again. Oh well, I will make sure I attending next year. Please share all the photos you can!

I plan on getting Hobbyist plates as soon as I possibly can for my 05 m3. Still 3 years out though. Figured id play it safe and go for hobbyist over collector. My county also doesn't do emissions so no inspection thank god.

I'd agree with jdesign at $1k-ish, more if you have the corresponding door panels. They are a dark gray like the outsides of the bolsters and a plain (not plaid) cloth insert like the inside of the bolsters. Could probably list for more with the way the market is and see what offers you get. If you cleaned them super well it would help a lot too.

I have nothing constructive to add, but if you import a car, want to toss a set of e30 euro bumpers in the back seat for me?

I used Turo to rent a Jeep Wrangler on the second half of my recent trip to Hawaii because rental cars were extremely hard to get and ridiculously expensive while we were booking things. I had never used it before, but we made sure to book with a host that had a bunch of excellent reviews because I'm sure all it takes is a crappy host to ruin the whole thing. We paid the cleaning fee upfront and an extra fee to have it parked in the airport parking when we arrived vs. their standard pickup location. Overall I'd say it was a good experience though it was definitely a little bit more effort than a standard rental. One of the 'downsides' was that I did feel like I had to be a lot more responsible with this car because it was someone's personal car, vs. a random rental through a major company. I'd say I would do it again, but only if I really wanted to rent something cool/specific or if it's really the only option.

My M3 is registered in Waukesha county and kept in Walworth county.  Easy enough to change via the DOT website nowadays.  In the past you had to do it in person and it was annoying to explain why your car was kept in a neighboring county.
