I have wanted one of these cars for years, as I always thought it would be the perfect daily driver. Still very simple and reliable, but not too old where it still feels modern. The E46 Truly is an amazing chassis! Driving it home from Georgia, I had to take a proper detour and test out all the new bushings the previous owner had just replaced at the Tail of the Dragon. I instantly fell in love with the car! Here are some pictures I have taken since ownership!

Things I have done already before starting this thread

-Quick paint correction (1 step, the paint was actually in great shape)

-PPF all the piano black trim

-New ZHP knob (stopped in Atlanta to get one from dealer an hour into ownership)

-Coco mats

-Coby new alcantara steering wheel/e brake handle/arm wrest

-Future Classic window sticker (the car is 1 of 36, just like my E36 )

-Future Classic wheel spacer kit

-Rewrap rear and front alcantara pillars

-New headlight lenses

-BC racing Coilovers

-AC Schnitzer Type II wheels 18x8.5 et13 wheels overnighted from Japan

-Refinished ACS wheels in BMW Stoneington Grey

-Nitto Neo-Gen tires

-AC Schnitzer Polished/Brushed Door sill plates

Yesterday I went to Chicago and pulled a 65k mile S54 from a crashed ZCP M3. I also grabbed the OEM M3 strut bar, the DME, the cluster, the window switch (to prevent tamper dot), the full wiring harness, and a bunch of other stuff. I am so excited for this. I have always dreamt of owning an S54 powered sedan. This car has been altered and modified in so many more ways already than I ever imagined when I bought it. I still plan to daily drive this car with the S54 in it; as I should!

Things I plan to get within next week or so for the S54 swap

-Headers (The people with the M3 wouldn't let me take the catalytic converters, and chopped them off the motor once I got it out of the car. I have yet to decide which ones to go with, as I don't want the S54 rasp)

-Full exhaust

-Rod Bearings/VANOS rebuild

-check panel with sport button/heated seats

-New OEM motor Mounts

-Get this BABY put in and running!

-I also have new bumper brackets sitting around, but I'm waiting to install those when I take the front clip off for the motor swap!

I will probably be posting the ZHP motor for sale soon if anyone is interested! If not, I will find something to do with it!

Scored some new seats for the ZHP! Have debated for a long time which route I wanted to go, on either m3 seats, or Recaro Sportsters, but I finally settled on just finding a really nice OEM set to match what came in the car. I felt that this fit the "build" a lot better.

* Idk what it is, if mine were old and tired, but these heated seats COOK compared to my old seats*

Road noise is for sure better in all areas, obviously it’s not silent but it’s a cheap and easy way to convert your car into a 7 series

These have been on my list of parts I have been searching for for this car for probably 2 years now, finally found a LHD set, as all of the other sets I find are RHD. With my car being a 05, I have the ribbon style cables, so I had to modify them a ton to make them functional. I completely took the motor and harness out of my OEM mirrors and made a bracket so it fit in these. I parrallel park downtown almost daily, so I really did not want to lose the reverse mirror function.

I also recently black PPF'd the door trim, as it was severely faded and buffing did nothing. This has bothered me since I bought the car, and new shadow line trim is like $6000, so this was the best option. It honestly looks better than new, and will withstand all scratches with the nice self healing that PPF has.

I think the mirrors completely changed the look of the car! This is how the car should have came from the factory.

Still driving everyday, blizzaks on the TE37's have been awesome for the few snowfalls we have gotten, can't wait for the first big snowfall when it actually sticks. Car has been a true joy to drive, and never seems to get old. I am sure I have refreshed a few things since my last post, but the main one was doing a Brembo GT BBK in the front. This kit comes with a nice 2 piece rotor, and a huge size increase over the stock ZHP.

I also have a rear kit coming next week to match the front which should be awesome.

After that, I plan to order a new cooling system for the S54 as at the end of summer with AC running the water temp would creep up if I let it idle too long or got stuck in stop and go traffic. I plan to get the 3 core CSF and pair it up with the Mishimoto E-fan which should help keep the car pretty nice and cool.

Highly recommend this chassis to anyone and everyone

Finally got the new Yokohama Advan V601’s mounted on the e88’s. Finally decided on 255/35 after lots of debating on what size tire to run.

They fit fantastic, have to install new rear bumper brackets that I ordered with more adjustability to widen the rear bumper a tad and I should be good to go. Very happy with the new setup, falling in love with this car again. Probably going to have some stuff resprayed on it in the very near future after a long winter of daily driving.

The install was very easy straight forward. The most time consuming part was wiring in the new MAP sensor, but even that was not bad.

Overall, this is my new favorite mod on the car. This thing sounds INSANE. I watched so many videos before installing this over the years and nothing captures the sound properly. It sounds like the motor is sitting right next to you. I love it. The only cons I have noticed so far is a torque loss between 3-4500 RPMS. I have a dyno session Monday and this might get fixed, I am not sure. Even if it is not, it is very minor, and there is for sure a lot more top end power. Surprisingly, my gas mileage (as long as im not beating on it) is about the same as well. I got 31 MPG on the way to Final Bout over the weekend which is awesome with the $55 a gallon for premium right now.

This car has evolved so much in the year I have owned it and is quickly becoming my favorite car I have owned.
