The plan was to either fix n' flip or sell to my youngest brother Matt (MattY) for his first car and we're going with the later.

So its a 1990 325i Calypsorot Coupe with ~250k on it. Bought it off the Kummrow lot and apparently its floated around a couple Badger Bimmer members which explains its good condition. Mainly cosmetics are the issue and a tune up but otherwise a pretty solid E30 fwiw. According to the carfax the last accident it was in the previous owner's kid hit a fence due to a brake caliper lock up hence cracking the bumper. I can feel a caliper dragging slightly but my dad stomped on the brakes while driving and it didn't pull either direction so we're thinking theres a hidden story on the bumper but either way an easy fix. The car was registered last in November but not sure how much it has been driven since then.

I took a spin in the car when I brought it back to the shop and my dad and I took it out again the next day and just driving the car more made a difference in the engine running. Basically its due for a tune up and with a little body work this will be decent car. Heres the to-do list so far:

Rear Brake Caliper Rebuild/Replace

New Bumper Cover

Trunk lock is currently stuck

General Tune Up (Sparks, Plugs, Belt, Pump, Filters, Fluids)

Door Seals

Glove Box Latch

Detail!

Onto the pics!

Comes with an authentic HellaHooptie sticker

Major rot on the car is the PS fender, tiny bit of rust below the driver tail light too

I Front End Damage

Crack free dash! Needs a couple pieces replaced but otherwise cleaned up well

Snagged those matching vinyl sport seats from Devianceindark. #racecarmods

Overall very happy with the purchase. Can't wait to go to town on this paint and see how things turn out. The roof is kinda beat but has potential for a 5ft car

there were 5 wibimmers e30s on Saturday. That means we're batting over .500, which in baseball if freakin amazing. But baseball sucks, so, bad analogy. BUT STILL.

Next on the list is fixing the minor lower coolant hose leak, speedo sensor in the diff, odo gears, obc clock swap (current obc screen is smashed), and looking into the bumper. I have a brand new bumper in green/teal, just gotta see how it mounts up and then i'll look into getting it painted.

we did just bushings and washers (garagistic delrin carrier shifter + rear) and that alone made a huge difference considering how sloppy it was. if we had more time it could've been done possibly but it took quite a bit to get it all in because the bushings were seriously rotted. lots of torching

but the good news is i'll have all new hardware on my alpine since it's a manual swap, and chris sourced me a z3 shifter for that guy. (i REALLY should make a build thread for that soon)

Still trying to figure out the fuel leak. Chris suspects its the fuel rail, which we have a spare so we'll swap it in next time and see what that does.

Other than that leak, just needs the interior put together before it's in a good state.

Considering I wasn't a licensed driver when this car was obtained, it should be nice being finally able to drive this thing for once while I work on the alpine swap. Funny that it all came together exactly a year after we dropped in the new motor

Comparing notes between e30's it's seems to have been a combination of wiring issues and the fuel pressure regulator being bad. Don't really have a clear answer but the fpr was leaking this time after we re-wired the motor as we had planned to pull it for a m50.

@<bdi>MattY</bdi> bought a sedan (build thread will start soon) so just need to tidy up stuff under the car like installing the driveshaft, exhaust, subframe bushings being the major things before this is road worthy.

*knocks on wood* this will be at the picnic, hopefully the sedan too.

The fpr is just a relief valve, so if you measure the right pressure at the rail it is working. Low pressure means it is leaking by or weak, high pressure could be from some clog on the return side.

pulled these injectors out of the motor. Pulled the fuel rail/injectors off the old motor and plugged it into the harness for testing. Verified 70psi of fuel pressure before the FPR. Cranked the car and fuel sprayed but it wasn't a constant mist, I could just see droplets although they were firing upside down. Again verified that the injector harness has power and pulsing so that means everything ecu wise works?

After doing some reading next logical step would be to check impedance on the injectors? I'd like to hook the original set up to the motor too to see if they spray fuel any better. Any way of testing the FPR too? Also thinking it might be best to drain the fuel tank of year old gas to rule that out too.

Sorry about that.

You keep on mentioning you have fuel, but is this just power to the relay, the new pump, and injectors or have you also actually checked fuel pressure?

This is also helpful to track down issues: http://blog.bavauto.com/3562/no-start-1989-325i-e30/
