I have only done M20 timing belts and I'm having trouble finding anything helpful on other forums. I assume it's going to be much more confusing because technology and VANOS. Also if anyone has a copy of the e39 Bentley manual, would you be able to scan the DIY for timing chain replacement and post them for me that would be much obliged.</p>

From what I had gathered it was a difficult thing to do but I just wanted more specifics. The post was deleted so I guess it was sold anyways, wasn't able to make a move fast enough.</p>

It's a whore of a job, and pretty expensive. A member on here recently did his car, I don't remember what his username is though. You need specialty tools as well.</p>
