<![CDATA[E36 Rear Wheel Bearings]]>E36 rear wheel bearings suck the big one to replace...  Anyone know how to get the e-brake cable out of the trailing arm?  I think its just a snug fit and a lot of rust has frozen it in for eternity.

That's what I was trying to confirm, thanks.  I almost have the bearing cut through so I will just get it out that way.  What methods have you guys used to reinstall?

I tried pounding on it using a socket over the eyelet to hit the outer sleeve and it wouldn't move.  Didn't hit it super hard though as I didn't want to damage it.

I haven't done rears on either in a couple years but I do remember I was glad I had a lift and the parking brake cable was simple once I figured it out. You do need an alignment after if you pulled tje whole hub assembly/ control arm.

]]>https://wibimmers.com/post/28643https://wibimmers.com/post/28643Fri, 27 Sep 2013 16:43:16 GMT<![CDATA[Reply to E36 Rear Wheel Bearings on Fri, 27 Sep 2013 16:04:00 GMT]]>Hmm, yea I don't want to buy another cable.  I got the hub out no problem with a slide hammer.  The axle is out and I tried the slide hammer on the bearing but it wouldn't budge.  Ended up cutting a groove in the outer race with a die grinder and cutoff wheel.  With some hammering and a chisel a chunk broke out and cut the back of my hand pretty good so that was the end of working on it until Monday when I am off work again.  A little more cutting and it should come out.  How did you reinstall the bearings?

I used a pneumatic chisel...hahahaha No clue on a nice way to do it
