It adds just enough bass for my taste, without going overboard. Got them cheap from a friend, and wired them into my e36 along with a JVC head unit. It sounded pretty good but I wanted more midrange, as e36's arent great when it comes to that. Once I got my e39, I wired them into the stock head unit and they sound perfect. I have all of the range that I would like, and that little extra loudness when I feel like it. Now I just need to replace a couple of the stock speakers which have been blown slightly. Looking into Rainbow brand for those, just waiting for some money.

Same with home audio. Watch a movie or listen to music with a surround sound system with no powered subwoofer. Its sounds flat and tweety. Add a sub or two and feel the movie or music. Like was said b4 it adds depth not just noise.

I don't that car audio is getting less popular, its more that stock audio systems are on a different level then they used to be. The base F30 system has everything I'd want for my listening needs and the Harmon Kardon option is even better.
