My guess is some idiot in a service department in New York, where the car came from. It was bought sight-unseen and is pretty clean, however, it had some engine work done under warranty by the original owner at a bmw stealership - based on the pinhole leak near one of the bolts for the valve cover, it appears that someone was prying around with a screwdriver, slipped, and punctured it. I'll get a pic once I start pulling stuff apart and show you - I only saw the pic that was taken when the car was at the shop being analyzed for the leak.  It's a pretty obscure thing. BMW NA doesn't even stock the part because nobody ever needs to replace valve covers. Has to come straight from Germany lol.

[image: 9f85257c4ea7b9119c4416b136f29ce4.jpg] A local tuner is tuning the obd1 and obd2 Ecu for the last couple years. His business is no longer, but he still does it on the side. And he has a dyno. He has sent me every file needed to tune the Ecu, and even working launch control. That being said, it's harder than any platform I've tried before, but I'm confident I can get it to work. Many recent progressions have been made on obd2 ecu's (ms41 most specifically) with rom raider as well. You can flash your Ecu for 33$ I will be trying to use a ford slot style MAF, for relatively low power(sub 500whp) for a very very budget oriented setup. Now my car just needs to be done [image: :)] ha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes it is. You can view my datalogs at http://www.datazap.me/u/michael1972 Keep in mind my tune is still getting dialed in. I have a new version to run but we just got more snow up here. That was actually one of my data runs.

Snap said: With et20 it appears that a wider tire could rub on the strut (225+) I would stick with a lower offset 15x7 since 205-50 is what you are going to find for summer tire sizes. If you are fine with performance all seasons then you will be able to find more available tires wider than 205 that justify getting an 8" wide wheel et20 with a 16x8 is a couple mm from the strut, and my 225/45 clears the strut by enough to not rub. You can't really go any bigger up front without doing some work.

If it will make it around the block, it will make it around the world.  Right? Just giver, I took my family on a 2k mile round trip to Alabama with an e30 which I had just bought and done a manual swap.  Only put around 500 miles on it before the trip and it ran flawless.

AvusHatesCones said: I would do Hyper silver, but if you go dark, satin black looks pretty nice. Edit: He said that these were satin black, but the more I look at them the more they look like anthracite The wheels on that blue m3 are definitely anthracite.  I had hyper silver on my black 135 and it was great, but for crimson red it just doesn't jive with the rest of the car - I have 12% tint, blacked out kidneys, carbon fiber front splitter, carbon fiber rear diffuser, and my carbon trunk is painted red except for the back top strip which was left carbon. So there are a lot of black/charcoal accents to the car, and it only makes sense that the wheel matches that theme.  So on that note, I'm pretty much set on a darker color

patsbimmer1 said: I'm going to have to say coilovers.  The turbo would be awesome but I think you would get more "ah ha" moments from the coilovers.  What I mean by that is that moment you come into an on ramp a little too quick and the car just sticks!  Or coming on the throttle a little sooner than usual when you exit a corner and the car just sits flat.  Those are the moments in the car that will keep a smile on your face. that's actually a good point. I am a big proponent of coming into on-ramps hot. I also get a lot of enjoyment giving it the beans when coming out of turns on the street - the LSD made it way more predictable doing that, but coilovers would probably help a lot more for stability.  Snap said: Ive thought about this for a bit and this is a tough choice. Do you have an idea of what turbo you would put on it? Well that brings up the difficult part of this discussion. As it sits, PURE Stage 1 would be the go-to. It's very well-reputed by N55 guys that have it, and they have a much better reputation than Vargas with their Stage2 offering, and Rob Beck I think is still in development phase for a turbo upgrade on the N55. PURE is close to finishing their Stage 2, which will be 2500 bucks + core, compared to 1000 bucks for Stage 1.  No idea yet what the results will be from the Stage 2 though. What I do know for sure is that if I'm running even the Stage 1, my peak target for boost would be 16.5 on 93 octane and meth. The Stage 1 loses efficiency beyond 20 psi, but to run 20 psi I'd have to be running E85 mixture and there's no gas stations near me that sell it. It's kindof a deal breaker for me. I probably wouldn't buy a Stage 2 kit because the boost would require me to run E85.  I think if I went with coilovers instead of the turbo, I would still wire up a meth kit this winter for a few extra ponies in 2015. I'm still on Stage 1 Cobb tune, so once that downpipe goes in and I can go to Stage 2...throw in meth and it'll be a good kick power wise.

FullThrottle e46 said: Yep top light. Is it easy to check that sender? Would it have come up as a fault and show on the BMW OBD reader/tool/apparatus/thingy? The guy did a scan I'm pretty sure. We're picking up the car in a few hrs so I'll hear it all straight from the horses mouth. Talk soon. Its likely a on/off sensor, two wire, it would be easy to check, and it might not show up on a scanner
